IN THIS LESSON

In this lesson, I'll tell you how I practiced my intuitive skills using the 'Rule of Threes.'

I was originally a pretty traditional acupuncturist, but I always had a home office and only saw one patient per hour. So once I'd put the needles in, I'd practice with my hands. I wanted to be professional and I didn't want to seem too 'woo woo,' though, so I'd be really nervous about sharing any impressions I was getting. So I would use the 'Rule of Threes' to bolster my confidence.

I basically just made a rule that if an intuition arose three times, I'd have to share it. It was a way to confirm with myself that I wasn't making it up.

So I'd run my hands down someone's body, head to foot, and I'd feel my. hand stop there. But what if I was making that up? So I'd do it again. If I stopped in the same place the second time, I'd think, 'Ok,  but what if I'm imagining that?' So I'd do it one more time. If my hand felt grabbed by the same place for the third time, I'd force myself to say something about it.

I'd ask, "Hey, do you have anything going on with your knee?" Or liver or wherever. They'd usually answer, "OMG, How did you know?" Which was really helpful. It really helped me discern the difference between my authentic intuition and actual making it up.

So now I can tell you that actual "making it up" feels hungry. It feels like you want to be cool. You want to be intuitive. And it's a really subtle difference between that and what's actually there in the field, which causes you to feel Curious, like, "Oh, weird, there's a rock on your leg." I'm not remotely invested in your having a rock on your leg, but there it is! Intuition is not charged with emotion. It's just noticing what you notice, albeit with a different faculty that you might normally use.

So try the rule of threes! In the next lesson, I'll cover an intuitive method for figuring out where the body is already working to heal you, the body scan. Join me.
