IN THIS LESSON

In this lesson, we're going to bring our rule of threes along as well as the yes/no method we covered in the Specificity module and take a closer look at how to do Body Scanning.

If you’ve got someone on a massage table in front of you, it’s the easiest thing to just run your hand above their body, from head to toe, asking where the body is working now. If you’re working on yourself, this can get trickier, because, although you may be running your hand around, you’re probably also using your interoception to feel and it can be confusing. So I mostly use this method on other people.

When you run your hand about an inch away from someone’s body, your hand will, very often, pause or even naturally stop in places where, perhaps, there is a disturbance in the electromagnetic field, or there is some issue. If you like, you can use the rule of threes, discussed in the previous lesson, to confirm or make sure you’re sure you’re onto something. You could also use your pendulum or body sway to confirm here.

Places where your body is injured or out of balance don’t just stop you, they grab you. Your hand will naturally get drawn in, perhaps magnetically. It’s very natural for humans to heal themselves and their family members with their hands. Mothers do it instinctively with their children, just putting their hands on the hurt place.

If you’re not able, for whatever reason, to use your hand directly, perhaps you're working with someone over Zoom, as I do nearly every day, then you can absolutely still do a body scan. You’re just going to use your imagination more. In those cases, I’m still starting at the top of the head, trawling down as if my hand were there, and noticing where my hand or my imagination naturally stops. Then I'll confirm it with the person and ask them to put their hand there.

So that's body scanning. In the next lesson, we'll look at another way to intuitively figure out where to work. Join me.
