IN THIS LESSON
People often ask me if belief is necessary for Resonant Attention to work on people. And I have no way of really answering that. So I'm just going to drop a couple of stories in this lesson for you to ponder and make of what you will.
Once I was working on a woman whose foot had been mangled in a car accident. Her doctor was waiting to see if he needed to put in screws to hold the bones in place. When I examined her, I could feel and see the bones out of place, but holding attention there didn’t achieve anything.
Then I perceived a tear in one of the vessels in her toe. I held attention and allowance and, with a little bubbly feeling, the vessel healed right up. And when it did so, we all saw the bones move back into place.
There were at least four people in the room and they all gasped when it happened. But a couple of weeks later, I ran into that woman again. She hadn't needed surgery, but she was still convalescing. I asked her if she wanted another treatment and she said, "What can one treatment do?"
Another woman I helped had slipped and fallen and hurt her side. By the end of the session, all of her pain had gone and she was walking around amazed, but also skeptical. "This can't have happened!" she kept exclaiming. "Don't think that," I said to her. But then when I saw the woman a few hours later, she informed me, "Well, of course the pain has come back. I'll need at least two or three treatments for it to work." Ok, lady. You do you.
It's not just denial. It's not just un-doing their treatments. Sometimes people also just don't let them happen.
One more story. I was sleeping over one night at a family member's house. They were complaining about a belly ache and were pretty sure they had appendicitis. Big mistake, but I kind of forced them to let me work on them, but then their body wouldn't let me do anything. Next day they went to the hospital and had their appendix out. And the next time I saw them, I apologized for not being able to help and they said, "Well, at least my boss will give me a raise now." Huh? "Yeah, because this happened because I was under too much stress."
Those are just a few stories I have to share on this topic. I will say, for you practitioners out there, that the question of belief plagued me much less once I became very clear that what I really love to do is not to tangle with people and their beliefs. It's really just to be utilized to my fullest and help people to understand how powerful they can be in their own healing.
I hope you enjoyed this class and will use this practice of attending and allowing for your own healing and to heal others, too. I'm passionate about re-skilling medicine and welcome your further questions.
